Artists, writers and scientists curate a 30-day collective exploration of “what moves you?” coordinated by Albuquerque Balloon Museum. You’re invited to participate; pledge to try something new, discover personal aspirations and celebrate your creativity. Everyone is encouraged to join us for the project events!

Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) is a cultural organization that seeks to address a critical question: how can SFAI cultivate creative practices (from fine art to design to urban planning and beyond), engage with diverse communities, and address the most pressing social issues of our time? In 2014, SFAI implemented yearlong thematic programming that addresses pertinent questions facing diverse regional and global communities. 4. THE MOMENT

Women are invited to create spontaneous short videos expressing pivotal/defining moments. A team of artists – Mindy Grossberg, Elsa Menendez, Janet Harman, Monica Sanchez, Liza Wolff-Francis, and Mari Valenzuela – will assist and guide participants, and collected ‘Moments’ will be shared on a dedicated web channel, becoming a video time-capsule of what Albuquerque women voice in ‘The Moment’ of March 2015.

Bits and Pieces Collage Workshop & Pop-Up Exhibition

7. MNEMOSYNE’S LOUNGE

Curated and directed by Juli Hendren, Hannah Kauffmann and Elsa Menendez, Mnemosyne’s Lounge features a diverse group of New Mexico women sharing their voices and narratives. Participants will develop and rehearse their stories and then perform them in a cabaret-style evening.

8. A BEAST AN ANGEL AND A MADWOMAN

This collaboration is comprised of four new original works performed by a Keshet Dance Company trio. 9. WHY I WRITE

A portable writing wall and collaborative public art piece conceived by Albuquerque’s Women of the World Poetry Slam Festival & Competition (WOW), “Why I Write” is a remix of Candy Chang’s “Before I Die” project. The wall asks “Why do you write?” and invites passersby to fill in the blanks: “I write because _______.” Each of the walls will be placed individually at WOW festival venues and displayed in full at the KiMo Theatre competition finals (Saturday, March 21, 8p).

10. ECKO POETRY PERFORMANCE: CONTAINERS

Littleglobe and this year’s EKCO Poets, Valerie Martinez, Michelle Otero, and Shelle Sanchez, engage with community to create and share collaborative poetry. The March 2015 project began with twenty-two containers – empty, full, glass, ceramic, fiber, wood – that hold special meaning and personal stories, which the EKCO poets translate into an engaging and non-traditional night of poetry, story, and performance.
An accompanying, large-scale, collaborative work of art–made throughout March with words and short poems contributed by community members–is also included in the Bits and Pieces Pop-Up Exhibition.
